On May the 4th 1982 , 47522 , while in charge of the 13.35 Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen service , smashed into a tractor and trailer , at around 55 mph , which had become stranded on a farm crossing at Forteviot , between Perth and Dundee. After re-railing the 47 was taken to the old depot sidings behind the wall at Perth station , where it remained for some time.

47522 was taken to Crewe Locomotive Works , and repaired !!

At Winchburgh , On 27th October 1982 while working the 09.00 Glasgow Queen St to Edinburgh Waverley , 47701 ran into the rear of a Mossend to Thornton Jct. freight , which had been wrongly routed.

Derailed and landed on its side after running through catch points at Grantshouse in September 1988

At Portobello wheel lathe , Edinburgh

Ran away from Edinburgh Waverley and colliding with 43180 on 13th Aug 1994. It sat at Portobello wheel lathe awaiting a decision on it's future, before being moved across the main running lines to the former St Marks freightliner terminal , where it was cut up by M.C Metals a year after the accident.
